GIS hackathon in Yakutsk

Since 2019, the GIS community of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has been annually organizing a competition for developments in the field of geoinformation technologies GIS hackathon - GIS'IT. High school students, students, undergraduates, graduate students and young specialists can take part in the competition. GIS hackathon is a short (usually two days), dynamic event,  designed to stimulate the emergence of new ideas in the areas of application of GIS technologies and bring them to implementation directly on the site of the GIS hackathon. The special format of the GIS hackathon allows you to unite participants from different professions, with different levels of knowledge and skills, and give them the opportunity to get acquainted with a new subject area under the guidance of practitioners. A creative informal atmosphere, an integral attribute of the GIS hackathon, contributes to the creation of new teams and projects, as well as the development of the GIS community. The purpose of the competition is to develop an ecosystem of scientific, innovative and entrepreneurial activities with the active use of geospatial technologies through the support and professional orientation of youth in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the field of information technology and GIS.
